Daniela Levera is a ceramist and ceramic teacher of great human and environmental sensibility. Born in Brazil and raised in Chile, Daniela moved to Venice to study at IUAV, where she tapped into a vibrant local community that offered a new sense of belonging and prompted her creative energy. It was during this time that she met Cinzia Cingolani, who introduced her to ceramics, teaching her fundamental shaping, decorating, and firing techniques. Daniela’s understanding and appreciation of ceramics grew, leading her to further refine her skills in Faenza, a city known for its rich ceramics heritage.
In 2014, Daniela returned to Venice and opened her own workshop on the island of Lido, where she began focusing on creating ceramic and porcelain pieces that blended functional design with decorative elements. Here, in this serene, muted space that is a perfect representation of her bright nature, Daniela works primarily with porcelain utilizing high-temperature firings and three simple oxides. The materials she works with are often minimal, and recycled elements are incorporated into her pieces, reflecting her low-impact vision and the continuous cycle of creation and reuse.
Daniela’s work carries an emotional and deeply personal quality, each piece becoming a reflection of her mission to foster a connection with the earth and its materials. From vases to bowls and tableware, her creations feature simple, organic lines that evoke harmony and elegance.
Beyond her studio work, Daniela is a passionate teacher of ceramics. She has taught across Italy and abroad, offering private lessons, courses, and specialized workshops. Daniela’s teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing creative independence in her students, viewing ceramics as both a craft and a transformative, therapeutic experience. As a board member of the Venetian Ceramists’ Association, she also works to promote ceramics within the cultural fabric of the city.
