ONA Short Film Festival
Maker Mile participated in the ONA Short Film Festival with a special initiative celebrating Venetian craftsmanship and its shared values with sports—dedication, creativity, and precision. Across three thematic evenings, the project highlighted the work of local masters, forging a dialogue between artisan tradition and sports practice.
The first evening featured Piero Dri, Venice’s youngest active remèr and forcolèr, who showcased the craft of making oars and forcole, essential to Venetian rowing.
The second evening welcomed illustrator Mattia Riami and screen printer Gianpaolo Fallani, who led a live workshop producing Maker Mile’s first handcrafted postcard. On the final night, Nicola Pavan presented his innovative reuse of bricole—the lagoon’s wooden mooring structures—transforming them into designer lamps.
Connecting these events was an installation by Thomas Stefani, who repurposed cables from a damaged paraglider to suspend the artisans’ works, symbolizing the intersection of sports, sustainability, and craftsmanship. In collaboration with the ONA Short Film Festival, Maker Mile created a unique platform for cultural exchange, demonstrating how artisanal traditions continue to inspire and evolve.
