Maker Tales 02
Maker Tales - “The Artisans of the Sestieri” returned for its second edition at The Home of The Human Safety Net in Piazza San Marco, as part of the “On the Occasion of Homo Faber 2026” programme. The event showcased a new series of documentaries exploring the craft traditions that continue to shape Venice's cultural heritage. Directed by Chiara Becattini and developed through Maker Mile's narrative approach, the videos follow artisans whose skills, knowledge and practices remain deeply intertwined with the life and heritage of the city.
During the event, five episodes were screened, each dedicated to one of the artisans present in this edition: Daniela Levera, Fernando Masone, Marisa Convento, Riccardo Guaraldi, and Marino Menegazzo. Following the screening, a discussion was held—moderated by Susanna Pozzoli, Executive Director of the 'On the Occasion of Homo Faber 2026' program, alongside Ilaria Marcatelli, Creative Director of Maker Mile—featuring the artisans themselves, who shared their experiences, insights, and perspectives on their craft. It was a unique opportunity to gain a closer look at the people, places, and practices that keep Venetian craft heritage alive, highlighting both the rewards and the daily challenges faced by the artisans.
The documentaries are available to watch on the Maker Mile website, on the dedicated pages of each artisan.
